From Los Angeles I hitched a ride with my friends David and James (and his black lab Jessie) up to San Francisco. I stayed in Emeryville with David and his Nana for about a week which gave me plenty of time to explore the Bay area. Much time was spent at the bar where David works called The Albatross. It is Berkeley’s oldest bar and boasts a good beer selection, a popcorn machine and 6 lanes of darts. I spent a few nights playing darts with a shark by the name of Joe. He’d been all over the world throwing darts and taught me some new games and gave some tips like a Dart Yoda. I also passed the time watching action movies such as Rambo: First Blood with Nana and going to Sausalito and Japantown with David and his mom.

Los Angeles Pictures
You may notice that the pictures from here on out are lacking my furry headed friend. After driving up to the Hollywood sign, Chris and the Subaru took off for Tahoe. I stayed behind in LA because I had a show to play. I went out to get some more pictures of Los Angeles but it started raining so I only was able to get 10 or so.

Picture Grab Bag
Here’s a hodge-podge of pictures from our time between Joshua Tree and Los Angeles. It included a short stint at Coachella where we failed at getting tickets, and a beautiful stay in Carpenteria at a beach campground.

Joshua Tree Pictures
Our time in Joshua Tree National Park was ended with a desert safari on a four wheel drive road. On a map it looked like a fail-proof shortcut to Coachella but after driving 20 miles per hour for about an hour and a half we reached an impassible canyon that almost popped a tire or two. We followed the road back and were 3 or 4 hours late getting to our destination. Oh, and there was some karate.

San Diego Pictures
I did not get very many pictures in San Diego mostly because we spent most of our time at the beach and I didn’t want to get sand in my camera. Our time there included getting sunburned on Ocean Beach, failing a pizza eating competition at Luigi’s Pizza, and going to Taco Tuesday at Pacific Beach Bar and Grill.

Grand Canyon Pictures
These are pictures of our drive from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. We left Las Vegas around 5 in the morning on no sleep and traded shifts at breakfast. On our second day at the canyon, we ended up hiking down from the rim to the Colorado River and back in one day – something that we later found out is extremely discouraged. Oops! It’s about a 16 mile trip and when we got pizza afterward Chris fell asleep at the table.
